I have no respect for pro-lifers because they’re not anti-war (anti-death-penalty, etc.).1

First of all, this is not necessarily true. Many people who are anti-abortion consider themselves to be strongly anti-war (or anti-death-penalty, etc.). Of course, most people are “anti-war” in general, but many pro-lifers are not categorically anti-war the way they are more or less categorically opposed to abortion. There are philosophically sound reasons for such a position, but they are beyond the scope of this presentation. At the end of the day, even if pro-lifers are inconsistent in their support for military action in certain hypothetical or specific situations, it has no bearing on the validity of their arguments regarding abortion.

  1. The questions in this section are not intellectual challenges to the pro-life position; rather, they are attacks on pro-lifers’ character. Even if the implications of these attacks were true—that pro-lifers are rude, judgmental, wrong about other issues, and doing nothing to solve the underlying problems that motivate abortion—it would in no wise undermine the philosophical and moral arguments presented here. Fortunately, these attacks are often groundless, so we offer some sample responses.
